Soccer is a Success.. for this week!!

We went into the weekend with our expectations high and low.. Low for Logan and high for Tatum. So Saturday afternoon we hit the field. Ok.. I should back up.. our expectations were low for Logie because he had not really seemed to into soccer. Wanted to be there, but a little, ADD at practice! He would walk thru drills, eat his practice jersey, basically be a typical 5 yr old boy! SO with all that said we into the weekend with the idea he was there to have fun and run around ( that is what 5 yr old boys do, right?) Fine by me, maybe not so fine with Jon, but acceptable! We hit the field and it was like a switch went off! He was some sort of soccer stud. He was some other child I had never seen. Very focused and driven. He ran, was aggressive, got dirty ( we all know he hates this) fell down and got back up, he even chased down a fast break and managed to cut him off and save the goal. He even scored 3 goals.. yep 3!! He was amazing and I was so proud of him for stepping up and asserting himself. Jon and I looked at each other in amazement. I do believe Jon's words were.. "Logan has surpassed all expectations!" He was very proud of himself and we made sure to point out the little things he achieved in the game that were big steps for him.. good sportsmanship, getting dirty and playing thru it, running hard and being a good teammate. I am going to post a video later.. Now Tatum on the other hand.. hmm not sure where her mind was.. We do know she was pretty bent that Logan's game went so well. Not sure why... maybe cause she was not the center of the universe.. but for some reason or another her head was not quite in the game. She played well, even scored a goal with 2 assists ( actual passes.. ) she just did not play with her whole heart and she knew it. (as did most that were watching.. people kept asking! ) But by the end of the game she was he typical self.. I think it just took a little while. Her team looked great.. They have learned a lot and are really working as a team. ( they have been together for 2 years now)No bunch ball and really passing and looking for the open spots. We think T will end up in the midfield because she loves to attack but loves to play "d".. She is really understanding the game and knows when to turn outside vs. inside. When to clear the middle, and when to push the ball up the sideline. It is really fun to watch her growth of the game! I am very proud of her achievements.. just want my kids to learn the lesson of " if we are going to something in life no matter what it is.. do it with all your heart and soul, or do not do it.." I have always preached to my players that if you are not 100% into something with your whole heart that it is not worth it. It has to be fun! Now, I do not expect this from my young children, just trying to teach life lessons for the future! So all in all great weekend and we look forward to many more!

Ps.. bonus was we got to have date night that night with our friends the Liles.. (their daughter Jessie is one of Tatum's BFF) we had a ton of fun and some good stories!

Logan's turn..

So he headed off to "K" this morning. We got there early and of course walking in you could go thru the cafeteria or to the main building. My sweet daughter ditches the family and heads to the cafeteria. I ask her "where are you going" she replies... "umm.... with my friends" not even a goodbye or anything and she was off. We then walked Logan to his class. He was so sweet! He walked right up to Mrs. Noreen and said hello and then was like a deer in headlights.. He was just not sure what to do. I walked in with him to help him get settled and then we were off, but first I reminded him to ride the bus home with sissy after school.. ( she was even kind enough to ask her friend if he could sit with him!! ) I was so proud and sad all at the same time. Carson and I headed out to they gym and when we were done I was not sure what to do with our time. For the last 5 yrs we have left and headed out to the preschool to pick someone up, but not this year. We decided to go get coffee, go to Marshall's and then come home to have lunch and clean. We met the kids when they got off the bus and heard all about their days. Logan made a new friend, although he has no idea what his name is!! Typical boy! All in all very successful day. I hope they are all like this.

First day of 2nd Grade.....

she is so wanting to get in the car at this point.. can u tell??

I love these shoes.. I wish they had them in adult. My physical therapist has them in adult size and they are so cute.. ( too bad she got them a year ago!!) And yes, her jeans are big.. but they are cute and will last for a while.. plus I can hand them down to the boys.. they are unisex!! Yes!!

Tatum started school today. She was up very early ( 6:30) I think she set her alarm. I heard her getting ready and then off to the playroom to watch tv. I made her oatmeal as this is what she wanted breakfast, and we then made her lunch together. She was disappointed we did not let her ride the bus as I wanted to take her.. So she let me take a few pics and then off we went. We got to school and had to park 2 blocks away and walk. She refused to let me bring my camera.. ( i told her tomorrow she has no choice as it is Logan's first day. ) So, anyways I walk her in and she is off. She loves her teacher and it is exactly who she wanted, and one of her best friends Taylor is in her class. She is thrilled. I was looking thru pics from last fall to this year and I am amazed at how grown up she is looking and really getting. I cannot believe she will be 8 in just a month. Oh, how time flies.. today was the easy part as tomorrow will bring a whole new set of emotions as Logan starts school. We had his orientation today and he loves it! He made a few friends and did not freak out when he got paint on himself, This is huge for him ( those of you who know him well.. know he hates being dirty. ) He managed real well and even wants to buy lunch tomorrow.. That is one step I am not so sure about as he is so picky with is food I do not want him to starve. One thing at a time, right? So here is to a new post tomorrow from a basket case mom ( in more ways than one!)

" The Gang"
I did not get one good picture of all 3 so this is all I have..

Can u say high maitinence?? Oh, we are so in for trouble!!

what a trip.. we left on a Sunday night at 9pm and drove thru the night. Poor Jon stopped several times for coffee which then resorted to stopping for potty breaks. Before leaving we hit Dutch Bros. for a 6 shotter and then made it to Eugene for a potty break. We got back on the road and made it to Grants Pass for another 6 shotter at the 24 hr Dutch Bros. there. we also filled up on gas and pottied. We then only made it to Weed before we had another potty break.. and then the last stop was at 5 am in a motel 6 parking lot. Jon was exhausted, and he refused to let me drive. I had been up the entire time as well but was past the point of exhaustion. So we stopped and slept in the car for about 45 mins. and then headed out again. At this point we were just over and hr away from our friends house so I made Jon let me drive and made him sleep some more. I know if he does not get enough coffee or sleep he is so not fun to be around. we finally got into their area and stopped and had breakfast then proceeded to there house. ( the kids had slept the entire way and were just waking up.) Our friends Betsy had to work so Barnabe ( her husband) and I took all the kids ( all 5) and ran errands while Jon slept. After Lunch Barn and I went for a run.. it was miserable.. 6.5 miles of hills in 87 degree weather.. YUK!!! That night we got a sitter for all the kids and had a nice dinner out with our friends and celebrated Betsy's birthday. The next morning we packed up and headed to Tahoe to camp till Friday with our friends and some friends of theirs... We had a blast!! Jon is not the happy camper as he does not sleep enough and there is no fufu coffee.. ( I finally mixed black coffee with Hot Chocolate and condensed milk.. he loved it.. Lucky for us) Boy camping is always and adventure, but this was too much. The first night we are getting ready to sit down and eat dinner and a baby bear comes running thru the camp site.. Ok.. makes since since we have to keep all food in the bear lockers.. but man to see it in reality is crazy.. That night or shall I say the next morning we wake at 4am to a momma bear and her new baby cub trying to get into our bear locker.. Scary right.. well then she walks across the tarp outside our tent and is sniffing like a dog.. I am having a total panic attack and want to leave.. scared out of my mind.. Jon consoles me and I fall back asleep.. ( kids slept thru it all) So the next day we head to the beach. It is amazing.. then our friendly baby bear comes back. He still a couple bags of Doritos from some kids and runs up into a tree. He finishes off the food and then proceeds to come down the tree to the rangers.. get spooked and run back up. Then he run out over a limb.. which is hanging over our car.. I am thinking great.. how do we explain to our insurance company.." a bear fell on our car!" He thankfully went back to the base of the tree and jumped onto another car and then form that car jumped to another.. then ran up another tree and stayed there for well over an hour. He finally came down and ran into the forest.. Crazy right.. oh it gets worse. That night goes off with no visitors and we head back the beach. The kids have blast playing in the water and building sand castles.. We head back to camp.. eat,shower.. ( oh yes.. nice showers and I am not kidding) and let the kids watch a movie. Put them to bed hang out with our friends and head to bed ourselves.. What do you know around 5 we hear our locker being attacked again and then the bear walking along our tarp.. slightly panicked but better this time. He then proceeds to the dumpster where someone forgot to lock and get into it.. you can her it going crazy in the garbage.. I then tell Jon he is going ot be there eating all night.. SO he call 911.. yep.. you read that right.. It was the most hilarious conversation.. Whispering he says "can u hear me" as to not let the bear know we are awake. He then tells the operator he is camping and there is a bear in the dumpster. They get out location and tell us the ranger is on the way.. Well, 15 mins. later the ranger arrives.. While in the 15 mins. the bear has let out a huge, scary "ROAR" and has gotten into a locker a couple campsites over from us. U can hear it ripped thru there bottles and food.. The ranger arrives and scares the bear away.. they issues the poor people a $1000 fine for not locking there locker.. oh, poor people. Jon get out of the tent to talk to the ranger who informs us that the bear was 6'5 tall.. r u kidding me?? So that morning we pack up and head back to our friends house. Betsy and had pedicures and we had a " Fabulous Last Supper" and some good wine.. We headed out the next morning around 11 am.. we got to Medford around 5 and had dinner and then stopped in Eugene for Ice Cream because they had been so good!!! I cannot even express how good they were.. They all took naps, no fighting it was as if I had new children. We got home around 8 and we were all tired so we were off to bed!! We had such a blast with the Balala's and our New Friends the Lowerance's. It was so nice the kids never fought and we never heard " so and so is being mean" or "so and so will not play with me". With 7 kids all so close in age it was amazing.. ( the kids are all so close.. Tatum was the oldest, then Kai and Charlotte.. who both turn 6 on the 30th, then all our April babies.. Logan was first , then Tia who is 4, then Carson and Josie who are 4 days apart and both 3..) It was a really nice time. Now, Jon and I are off to celebrate our anniversary in Vegas next week!! Four days of relaxation!!! We so need to recover from all the drinking.. I forgot how mcuh you do that while camping.. especially when you are putting Bailey's in your morning coffee.. I will say that I was the responsible parent who did not drink out on the beach, but man once we hit that camp sight and I saw the wine... hmm I am thinking Vegas may not be the best place to regroup.. I better detox this week..

what have we been up to????

We have been so busy this summer from soccer camps, swimming, Picnics in the park, 4th of July with the Ward's, Sunriver and more swimming. I have not had a moment to spare to update, but found time during the Espy's tonight.. Haha.. Marsha I did my updating first! Anyways, we just got home from a week in Sunriver with my parents, my brother and his girlfriend.. and we are headed out again this weekend to spend a week in California with our friends the Balala's. Wish us luck we are driving!! UGGG.. I said i would never do it, but never say never. Other than all that not much else going on. We are anxiously waiting our letters from the school telling the kids who their teachers are. They check the mail daily as they should be here in the next week or so. So enough with our summer here are the pics..Enjoy!
The shirts says it all..

Has anyone besides me noticed he always has food on his face.. I believe this was LaRae's yummy cupcakes..
My kids loved being out on the lake watching the fireworks.. They especially loved spending the whole day with their friends Johnny and Berkley. We didn't mind that we got to hang with our friends too. We loved the 4th this year from the pancakes and parade to dinner at the Burke's and a late night boat trip with "Captain Bob".. Lots of fun.

Our kids toss a mean frisbee..

Logan ate chicken ( other than a breaded form) for the first time this night. It was quite the struggle as he hates meat, but he did it. We had a nice father's day picnic on the river the night before Father's day. This is what Jon wanted this year and it was perfect.

Tag.. your it.. I got yelled at cause I was not playing and just taking pics.. SO I joined the game after this pic..

Everybody loves the playground..

Oh.. the good ole days. Recess, play structures, wall ball, hop scotch, tether ball.. This weekend I finally let Tatum and Carson play on the play structure during the football game. I have never let them do this as Tatum tends to be a tad forgetful and not watch over her brother. But what do I expect from a 7.5 yr old girl. ??? Needless to say Logan's game was on the field closest to the playground and Jon's bosses daughter who is 9 was over there playing so I let the kids play as I could see them and watch them at all times. Tatum did a great job of watching over her brother and I got to enjoy his game without kids climbing all over me and asking famous " is it over yet?"..
