Soccer is a Success.. for this week!!

We went into the weekend with our expectations high and low.. Low for Logan and high for Tatum. So Saturday afternoon we hit the field. Ok.. I should back up.. our expectations were low for Logie because he had not really seemed to into soccer. Wanted to be there, but a little, ADD at practice! He would walk thru drills, eat his practice jersey, basically be a typical 5 yr old boy! SO with all that said we into the weekend with the idea he was there to have fun and run around ( that is what 5 yr old boys do, right?) Fine by me, maybe not so fine with Jon, but acceptable! We hit the field and it was like a switch went off! He was some sort of soccer stud. He was some other child I had never seen. Very focused and driven. He ran, was aggressive, got dirty ( we all know he hates this) fell down and got back up, he even chased down a fast break and managed to cut him off and save the goal. He even scored 3 goals.. yep 3!! He was amazing and I was so proud of him for stepping up and asserting himself. Jon and I looked at each other in amazement. I do believe Jon's words were.. "Logan has surpassed all expectations!" He was very proud of himself and we made sure to point out the little things he achieved in the game that were big steps for him.. good sportsmanship, getting dirty and playing thru it, running hard and being a good teammate. I am going to post a video later.. Now Tatum on the other hand.. hmm not sure where her mind was.. We do know she was pretty bent that Logan's game went so well. Not sure why... maybe cause she was not the center of the universe.. but for some reason or another her head was not quite in the game. She played well, even scored a goal with 2 assists ( actual passes.. ) she just did not play with her whole heart and she knew it. (as did most that were watching.. people kept asking! ) But by the end of the game she was he typical self.. I think it just took a little while. Her team looked great.. They have learned a lot and are really working as a team. ( they have been together for 2 years now)No bunch ball and really passing and looking for the open spots. We think T will end up in the midfield because she loves to attack but loves to play "d".. She is really understanding the game and knows when to turn outside vs. inside. When to clear the middle, and when to push the ball up the sideline. It is really fun to watch her growth of the game! I am very proud of her achievements.. just want my kids to learn the lesson of " if we are going to something in life no matter what it is.. do it with all your heart and soul, or do not do it.." I have always preached to my players that if you are not 100% into something with your whole heart that it is not worth it. It has to be fun! Now, I do not expect this from my young children, just trying to teach life lessons for the future! So all in all great weekend and we look forward to many more!

Ps.. bonus was we got to have date night that night with our friends the Liles.. (their daughter Jessie is one of Tatum's BFF) we had a ton of fun and some good stories!

Logan's turn..

So he headed off to "K" this morning. We got there early and of course walking in you could go thru the cafeteria or to the main building. My sweet daughter ditches the family and heads to the cafeteria. I ask her "where are you going" she replies... "umm.... with my friends" not even a goodbye or anything and she was off. We then walked Logan to his class. He was so sweet! He walked right up to Mrs. Noreen and said hello and then was like a deer in headlights.. He was just not sure what to do. I walked in with him to help him get settled and then we were off, but first I reminded him to ride the bus home with sissy after school.. ( she was even kind enough to ask her friend if he could sit with him!! ) I was so proud and sad all at the same time. Carson and I headed out to they gym and when we were done I was not sure what to do with our time. For the last 5 yrs we have left and headed out to the preschool to pick someone up, but not this year. We decided to go get coffee, go to Marshall's and then come home to have lunch and clean. We met the kids when they got off the bus and heard all about their days. Logan made a new friend, although he has no idea what his name is!! Typical boy! All in all very successful day. I hope they are all like this.

First day of 2nd Grade.....

she is so wanting to get in the car at this point.. can u tell??

I love these shoes.. I wish they had them in adult. My physical therapist has them in adult size and they are so cute.. ( too bad she got them a year ago!!) And yes, her jeans are big.. but they are cute and will last for a while.. plus I can hand them down to the boys.. they are unisex!! Yes!!

Tatum started school today. She was up very early ( 6:30) I think she set her alarm. I heard her getting ready and then off to the playroom to watch tv. I made her oatmeal as this is what she wanted breakfast, and we then made her lunch together. She was disappointed we did not let her ride the bus as I wanted to take her.. So she let me take a few pics and then off we went. We got to school and had to park 2 blocks away and walk. She refused to let me bring my camera.. ( i told her tomorrow she has no choice as it is Logan's first day. ) So, anyways I walk her in and she is off. She loves her teacher and it is exactly who she wanted, and one of her best friends Taylor is in her class. She is thrilled. I was looking thru pics from last fall to this year and I am amazed at how grown up she is looking and really getting. I cannot believe she will be 8 in just a month. Oh, how time flies.. today was the easy part as tomorrow will bring a whole new set of emotions as Logan starts school. We had his orientation today and he loves it! He made a few friends and did not freak out when he got paint on himself, This is huge for him ( those of you who know him well.. know he hates being dirty. ) He managed real well and even wants to buy lunch tomorrow.. That is one step I am not so sure about as he is so picky with is food I do not want him to starve. One thing at a time, right? So here is to a new post tomorrow from a basket case mom ( in more ways than one!)
